*Ka-bang!* ... again...

So my car went *Ka-bang!* again last Sunday!

heh...

Okay, so I exaggerate, it kinda sorta went *bonk* only... but that was bad enough...

I was sending the girls for ballet class... on a rainy Sunday mind you, the day of rest, at 8:15am, so forgive me for the negative aura I must've been carrying around, since my heart was still in my warm bed!

Well, I was using the road coming out of  101, heading towards the main road with all the flyover construction crap going on. It had just started raining and when I reached the junction, I slowed down and stepped on the brakes but they just didn't work! I must've skidded on loose gravel and was helpless as my car just kept on going and hit the car in front!

Luckily the Malay lady in front was very nice and we just exchanged numbers and she told me to go ahead and send the kids for class and we could contact each other later on. It was also raining and we were both standing in the rain, too jittery to remember umbrellas!!

her car

In the end we paid RM750 for their damages and we brought my poor old car to a relative who did it up in 2 days and only charged RM350!

my car

In my defense, I think the contractors doing  the flyover are to blame for my misfortune (especially since I am in actual fact such an excellent driver!! Heheehe) ! They do not keep the roads in proper, safe conditions and plenty of accidents and even deaths have occurred since they started work. The area is not lit up at night and they rarely clean the debris and dust off the roads.

If I had Franklin & Bash (super cool lawyers on Fox TV) as my defense attorneys, I bet I could sue the pants off the contractors! Hahahaha...

Stressed...

Yay! Hubby's coming back tomorrow....
It's been a rough and busy week.
Life is always sweeter when your partner is near. They don't even have to do anything, just being around makes a difference.

Well, at least it's a FRIDAY!! But actually that doesn't make much of a difference to me, weekends are packed with ballet, Taekwondo and piano classes, and the shop is still open.

But we are closed on Sundays! Yes, we can always count on the 'day of rest', the 'Sabbath day'! A day when we can just chill, at the end of a hectic week, and gather back our bits of straying sanity...

I appreciate my mum even more right now! How did she ever manage 6 kids!! All the time management and co-ordination and driving up and down to school and activities, buying groceries to feed an army, and working on top of it all!! I only have 4 kids and a very flexible job and already I'm complaining...

Well, actually the real reason I'm so stressed is I did a really, really stupid thing today. I was rushing about as usual but today there was an added stress factor. I had to pick up Kung Kung from the airport at 5pm, and anyone who knows Kung Kung knows he has a way of making you stressed out without saying a word! :)

So at 3:40pm I picked up Annie from school and brought her and Claire for Kumon class... then I rushed out to buy a present for Annie's BFF, Samantha who was having a dinner party that night. So at 4:45pm I asked that Annie be excused early from class cause I had to go to the airport. (it didn't help that traffic was horrendous today, rush hour plus CNY last minute rush?)

Then I had to get Annie back to school to meet up with Sis no.2 (who was there watching Amanda's sports practice) so she could follow them home and freshen up, then go to the party together with Cousin Amanda.

When we got to school, I was planning to turn in and drop Annie off, but it was already 5pm and moreover the cars were not moving and we were stuck right in front of the exit gate of the school. So this was where I experienced a sudden lapse of better judgement and told Annie she could get down from where we were.

So Annie opened the door without looking first, and "BAM!!" a motorcycle rammed into the open car door! Thank God Annie was still in the car! Geez... It was all my fault, the poor guy on the motorcycle also almost 'peng' (fell)!

*sigh* I'm just so happy Annie was okay and then I went down to see if the motorcyclist was alright. He said he hit his leg and there were just scratches on his bike. He asked for RM50 and of course I paid him, the poor guy!

I feel like such an awful mum... awful, and awfully stupid...

So the car door doesn't close very well now and the ever-efficient Kung Kung has already taken it off my hands and given me his car to drive.

(Girl, the cover story for the benefit of the older generation is that a motorcycle hit me coming out from the school okay?! I'm sooo not in the mood to listen to nagging right now!! Thank you for not reporting!! :))

*sigh*

So the moral of the story is, relax and do things slow and steadily, even if you are late. Rushing about like a headless chicken will only attract negative energy... I. will. try. to remember that...

Also, my kids will never ever be allowed on a motorcycle! Motorcycles seem to have this knack of appearing out of thin air, especially in front of you at roundabouts!!

Also.. will someone please invent a rubber car??

High speed chase

This morning, at around 8:58am, a very 'interesting' (I currently lack 'decent' adjectives to describe this curious experience!) thing happened! We were involved in a high speed car chase!!

Seriously!!

Okay, it wasn't really that high speed like in the cop shows on t.v. with drifting and all that, since the two cars involved was my 'mummy car' (an Avanza), and a wee little Perodua Viva. We were going maybe maximum 80km/h? :)    (bear in mind small road and plenty of traffic)

Alright, alright, I'll rewind a bit...

So, it's a Sunday, and Annie has ballet class at 9am. Hubby and I, along with Solomon pile into the car to send Annie for class. As we approach a T-junction and slow down to stop before entering the main road, an idiot (the kindest word I can think of at the moment) turns in from the main road. He turns too wide and cuts into our lane, so Hubby swerves to the left to avoid him. It is too late and he clips the rear end of our car and scratches the back door and bottom right bumper/mudguard whatever thingy.

And guess what???

Guess???

He keeps going!!!!!

We are in a bit of a shock and there I am still thinking maybe he didn't know he hit us? 'Cos I just cannot fathom how a person can just drive off after hitting another car! Like maybe the loud bang... scratch... and jarring impact somehow escaped him??!! Nope.. don't think so...

Thank God Hubby was with me, if it was just me, I think I would've just sat there, frozen in shock, not knowing what to do!

So anyway, Hubby swings the car around and goes after him. He honks his horn and there's no way the idiot doesn't know it's him we are after! And he keeps driving away!!

After going straight, he turns into another road. Hubby catches up with him and manages to cut him off with our car and he has no choice but to stop... for a while... then...

He turns his car around and drives off in the other direction!! Hubby is really 'hot' now and Annie's quiet at the back and sooo gonna be late for her ballet!! :)

After tailing him for a little distance more, Hubby decides to let him go. With us in the car, it's not worth driving recklessly to get to the idiot! I guess we have to put things in perspective and not, in the heat of the moment, cause even more damage!

I suppose it's a good thing we didn't get to him, 'cos I think Hubby would've started a fight, what with the superheated mood he was in!! And a confrontation would not be good news... I saw 2 men in front and am not sure if there were anymore behind. It would've been traumatizing for the kids to witness too! Luckily Hubby has the ability to maintain a level head in such a condition, where some people's minds would've overridden logic, whereas others still, like me, would've totally jammed!! :)

Well, at least the damage is not too bad... Just another scratch (pretty big though) to add to my collection!

If we thought the Malaysian police would actually do something (other than recording and filing) if we reported it, we would. But alas...

So if anyone sees QAT 790, a silver Perodua Viva, parked on the roadside or something, do me a favour and give it a good strong kick in the rear!!! :)

Crashed the Batmobile...

Supermum crashed the Batmobile.

What? Wrong superhero? Whatever...

Anyway, yesterday I rammed a car while trying to turn out onto the bigger road at a T-junction! I totally didn't see it coming. So here are my excuses:

1. Kids no.2 and 3 were fighting in the car over some mango pudding I made the day before.

2. Some @#*% had parked his big fat car on the side of the main road, blocking part of my view of oncoming cars!

Yes, it's all their fault, not mine, no, not with my terrific driving skills!
(Just don't ask me to parallel park!)

3. We all have a blind spot on our retina! Scientific fact okay? So there!

Well anyway, the poor guy was happily driving down the straight road when this crazy lady rammed the side of his car! *sigh*

I bashed the corner of my car and dented both his doors! So I had to go to the police station to make a report and get fined RM300! All the hassle, and now I have to deal with insurance companies. When it comes to getting money out of insurance companies, you'll have more luck getting a constipated geriatric patient to pass motion (excuse the metaphor, can't think of a nice one for insurance companies)!

I felt like a criminal giving a confession at the police station; Yes it was me, I did it! It was all me, nobody else! I'm the evil, crazy woman! Lock me up and throw away the key! *sob, sob*

I guess the important thing is we were all okay. Kids no. 2, 3 and 4 were in the car with me, so I'm glad it was nothing too serious.

You can bet I super-nagged the kids about 'sitting down and keeping quiet in the car'! They didn't seem too repentant though, Claire was so excited to ask my shop staff, "Do you see anything different with my mum's car?" (yeah, you mean, like that big huge hole?)

So, it was a pretty crummy day, but the day was not over! No Siree! It turned to downright bizarre that night.

I was halfway to Dreamland at around 11pm last night, when I heard scratching and squeaking noises coming from the corner of my room, under a small table. Crap, the condo had rat infestation problems?

Great.

I was now stranded on my bed. I wanted to switch on the light so that maybe the rat would get scared and run away? But knowing these horrible creepy crawly creatures, it would most probably run up my leg instead!

So I waited, maybe the rat would just run off on its own. It wasn't like rats to stay in the open for so long. So I waited... more scratching... and waited... more squeaking...

This was getting strange. The rat was still there. I caught a glimpse of something black scrambling about. It still wasn't going anywhere. What could I do? Solomon was sleeping on the floor of my room. I couldn't just let a cocky rat roam about my room.

Just then, the 'rat' flew out of my room into the dining room! It was a BAT!!! Jeez... talk about creepy! I was half-expecting it to turn into Count Dracula and wish me Happy Halloween!

The little guy was disorientated and scrambling about on the floor. So, SUPERMUM came to save the day by yelling at her bedroom door for Sidekick! hehehe...

Sidekick was creeped out as well, but at least she wasn't frozen by the bedroom door. She covered the bat with the dustbin lid and just to be sure, covered that with a rug. Hooray for Sidekick!

Super Grandpa got rid of the bat this morning. Thank goodness.

Talk about a weird day. If this is what "adventure" entails, count me out. I'd much prefer my old boring, predictable life back, thankyouverymuch!

Cute accident?!

Cute accident. These two words shouldn't go together right? But yesterday, that was exactly what I saw, a cute accident!

Have you ever seen one of these cars on the road? It's a two-seater called Smart right? It's so tiny and adorable, it looks like a rechargeable toy car!

Anyway, yesterday, while I was sending Annie and Amanda for Kumon class, we saw an overturned Smart. And when I say overturned, I mean it was totally upside down, resting on it's roof (think; turtle on it's back with legs flailing in the air)!

I guess since it had just started raining, the road was real slippery. It also must have been a self accident, as there were no other dented cars in sight! Moreover, the little car landed neatly by the side of the road in such a way that if it wasn't upside down, you would have thought it was deliberately parked by the roadside!

All in all, if it wasn't so tragic, it would've been a seriously hilarious sight! I was torn between pity and mirth! (no, there were no casualties)

I wanted to take a photo on the way back, but just as I was about to snap, a man (yes, only one man, I think) pushed it so that it tipped and landed on it's side with a metallic crash. So, all I got was the Smart ass :)

So, for your viewing pleasure, I shall attempt to recreate the 'overturned tortoise' accident scene:

(drumroll...)

Hehehe.... see what I mean?
